Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am currently a mental health professional, servicing children and adults in this arena is expertise. In addition, I completed 16 weeks of studying and implementing various techniques for teaching students with disabilities and mental & behavioral health obstacles. I understand the special needs of the student i.e lack of attention/focus, organization, and hypersensitivity. I provide students with necessary skills and offer suggestions to overcome their specific barriers to meet their educational goal(s).

Career Development

I am currently a case worker and provide case management services within Lake County. I provide life skills coaching, time & organizational management, as well as coaching/training. Furthermore, I teach & tutor various subjects within English including ESL at various language institutions throughout Lake & Cook County.

College Counseling

A few years ago, I worked in the Continuing Education department at a community college as a college administrator. My role was to listen to potential students needs and help guide them and provide them with information in acquiring the most suitable class and/or career path. I am currently a mental health professional and continue to work with the public in this systematic process.

One of the most enjoyable degrees I have obtained is an Associate of Arts in English. Moving forward, my English sessions focus on literature and the use of language to express perspective and emotion. I teach students from elementary to adults to critically analyze and defend their opinion.

I am qualified by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). I have been tutoring ESL and GED (conversational and or academic) for over 6 years, assisting students in reaching their ESL goals.

I studied grammar rigorously in college. Moreover, I continue to write and edit personal and professional documents for students and small businesses.

I am comprehensively knowledgeable in the fine arts, particularly in literature. I provide my students with: history/background, synopsis, and character charts all while providing a fun learning environment.

I was the Director of Marketing and Community Outreach for a non-profit organization for over 4 years. I currently assist small businesses with their websites, store set-up (design & layout), and social media. I am more than capable and willing to teach others how to market themselves & their business.

I studied in great detail all the specifics of English from elementary to undergraduate and beyond. I understand the nuances associated with proofreading and editing, however, from listening to my students - I provide professional and academic editing before, during, and after the writing process.

Public Speaking

I have studied Public Speaking directly and indirectly in my A.A with a focus in English, as well as B.A. in Multi-Cultural Communications, and lastly while I studied and obtained my certification in TESOL. In addition, to my educational experience I teach ESL and also provide trainings at my job as a social worker. Not only have I studied this craft, but I also teach others how to be effective and concise in their message delivery and body language.

Study Skills

At DePaul University, I minored in Relational, Group, & Organizational Studies. This area of concentration has taught me to help others' effectively: organize, focus, meet deadlines, and improve memory by setting up a system tailored to the student(s) specific needs. In addition, I will work on motivational builders, and memorization techniques in order for one to reach their desired goals.

Over the course of 6 years in tutoring English as a Second Language, I have had the privilege of assisting 8+ students in passing the TOEFL exam. Not only do I provide students with the skills for test & note taking, but I also assist in time management and the following areas, such as: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
