About Michael

Hi,
I would love to help you learn C, C++ and C# among other languages only if you are serious. Please don't reach out to me if you are not. I treat my students the way I would want to be treated. If you ask for help, please email your assignment in a Word or PDF file as an attachment and to give me some background on what problem you are facing. I can give you the help you need. If I can’t, I will be upfront with you about that and recommend another tutor. Please don’t try pasting the assignment into the body of an email. That doesn’t work by past experience. Also, please give me the name of the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) you are using. This is just preliminary work that is not charged to you. As a tutor, I read over your assignment and the problem you are facing. This gives me something to think about before going into a tutoring session. Please note I won’t write any software for you. However, I will give you clues/hints, ideas, and sometimes example code that should help you figure out your problem. I will ask probing questions related to your programming problem. I want to help you quickly and efficiently move as possible with your assignment because I want you to be happy with the service I provide.

Currently, I work for at a school as a CIS Tutor helping Computer Information System (CIS) students with a wide variety of problems. I've found that I love helping students solve their problems. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and while in college, I worked as an intern at an engineering company and was accepted into the Epsilon Delta Pi Honor Society for Computer Science.

I've written software in C, C++ using MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes), C# (but not asp.net yet!) and Visual Basic over the past 26+ years. I have about 20 years’ experience writing in C and 10 years’ experience writing in C++. I have I have experience with Microsoft Office 2007, 2010 and 2013 and multiple Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.

If you need help in any of these CS/CIS classes you are taking, please feel free to contact me and schedule a session. So far, I have received very high ratings with hundreds of student sessions at the school I work at.

Kind Regards,
Mike

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

C

I used the C language for many projects when I worked at a mid-sized software company. I first read the book on my own time and then took the class at the University of St. Francis and received an A in this course. I have over 15 years using this language professionally.
In addition, I tutor students who are learning the C language at a college. I have 100+ hours tutoring students at this college.

C#

Last year I created a website using ASP.NET Web Forms on the front-end and used ASP.NET MVC 5 for the back office. In addition, I have used C# while working at a software company to write a few tools that I needed to perform my work. My previous employer paid for C# training back around 2009. Also, I have studied C# for the last few years and still use it personally for small projects.

C++

I have used C++ extensively while working at a mid-sized software company. I wrote and enhanced a variety of reusable classes for many enhancements to a vehicle routing software package (Windows and online version). I have over 10+ years using C++ and MFC with Microsoft Visual Studio (various versions). In addition, I also tutor students at a college that use C++ 11 and the DEV-CPP Integrated Development Environment (IDE). I have logged well over 100+ hours tutoring students at this college.

Computer Programming

I have been a computer programmer for over 25 years. I have mainly used Microsoft Windows for most of that time, but I do have some UNIX experience. I have used C, C++, Fortran, COBOL and IBM 370 Assembly language. In addition, I use Microsoft Visual Studio, Dev-C++ and CodeBlocks as integrated development environments (IDE's). I have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.

To conclude, I am a professional computer science tutor at a local community college where I have received many high reviews from students.

Computer Science

I have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from the University of St. Francis. I had the honor of being inducted Epsilon Delta Pi Honor Society. I have worked professionally for over 26 years in the Transportation Industry. I know a number of different languages including C, C++, C# and Fortran.

Fortran

I learned Fortran many years ago. When I first started an internship at an engineering company back in December 1986 while I was a Junior in college. One of my first projects among many were to port a huge Fortran computer program from one operating system to another. I had to make sure the output from each of these programs were correct. This program was used to design roadways.

In addition, I used Fortran for many years to write routing software as well. Not all of this software was written in Fortran. Other parts were written in C and C++. Honestly, I prefer C++ and C over Fortran since this language dates back to the '60's. However, I am willing to tutor anyone who needs help with Fortran.

General Computer

I have experience using Windows 10 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro, Windows 7, Windows Vista, etc.

Microsoft Excel

I am a professional tutor at a local community college. I am CRLA (College Reading & Learning Association) Level 1 certified. I work with students who take Computer Science and Microsoft Office classes. Currently, I am teaching an MS Excel Made Easy class. In the fall, I plan to teach 1-day MS Office 2016 classes. Over the past year, I have helped 100's of students at the college and tutoring online.

Microsoft Windows

Professionally, I have used Microsoft Operating systems since Windows 3.1. That goes back to the mid-1990's. I wrote and developed software using Windows 3.1, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows XP Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise. Personally, I have used Windows 95, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 Home, Windows, 8.1 Professional and Windows 10 Professional. in addition, I have taken an A+ Certification course that covered Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 Operating System commands and tools used by a System or Network Administrator.

Great Tutor, Dedicated To The Student!

I worked with Michael over two days on a programming project I was having trouble with. He was always on time, extremely generous with his time, and was dedicated in making sure that I understood all aspects of the project and C++ concepts we were covering. I do not have a good handle on C++, and the project was far outside of my comfort level. What I appreciated most is that Michael broke down th
