About Sandra

I have been a special education teacher for 9 years. Presently, I have tutored 3 students for the GED test with a tailor-made program targeted specifically for the GED. All three of my students, from challenging backgrounds, have passed the GED. My style is to fully assess each student to know their strengths and weaknesses and make a plan accordingly. I teach with a no nonsense yet engaging approach to empower my students to reach their full potential.

I am originally from Indiana and got my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Special Education and Social Sciences from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

I do require a 2 hour minimum for GED students.

I am also tutoring special needs students in Language Arts (reading, grammar and written expression) and math up to Algebra 1.

If you want a tutor that is dedicated, passionate, and organized and YOU are willing to do the work, I'm your gal!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Knowledgeable, patient and very intuned to finding the learning style to best instruct the student

What I noticed right away about Sandra was she was sensitive to find the student's learning style so that she could best instruct them. That way, the student learns and retains more of what is being taught. She was also sensitive to equip the student to learn on their own instead of leading the student. Sandra uses a student's strength to build confidence to strengthen learning weaknesses. Thi
