I earned my BS in human biology from Northwestern University. I am proficient in a wide variety of scientific topics, including general and organic chemistry, genetics, general biology, human anatomy, microbiology, and physiology. I've also taken a wide variety of coursework in psychology, with topics including C.B.T., research methods, and psychopathology.

I have experience tutoring a variety of topics (chemistry, biology, literature/composition and various math coursework) at the high school, A.P., and collegiate levels.

My own academic experience was highly community-based in that its adult students took active roles in the academic success of their peers. I participated in countless peer mentoring and tutoring sessions as both a teacher and as a learner throughout my academic career. I know what it's like to be in both roles.

My ultimate goal is to provide the individualized care and attention that students need to succeed at whatever stage they are in their education. I design lesson plans based on the needs and interests of my learner. I prefer to pre-plan each session, but am open to adjustment based on the immediate needs of my students. I highly encourage all of my students to provide pictures, links, or documents that highlight their current coursework and concerns in order for me to plan the most efficient, successful sessions possible.

I'm also a great resource for anyone interested in recreational long-distance running. I've been a marathon training group pace leader and mentor for 10+ years. If you're looking for information on how to get started, have questions related to marathoning or just need an occasional motivational boost to jump-start your running routine, I'm happy to be of service.

Smart and organized

Amanda tutored my daughter for the first time with college chemistry. My daughter loved her! She was very prepared and punctual. Amanda was also very knowledgeable of the subject and flexible as she had to wait 10 minutes for my daughter. She provided my daughter with a lot of helpful resources. She was very lovely too! My daughter wants to continue being tutored by Amanda!

Knowledgable and patient tutor

Taught me everything I needed to know. Was very organized had everything prepared. I needed help with Chemistry and everything I had a question about she knew the answer to. On top of being very prepared and organized she was very patient if I did not understand something she kept showing me different ways and made sure I understood it
