My name is Nada G.; I live in Hoffman Estates, and have been teaching 5th grade at an academy in Skokie for the past 6 years with a master's in Elementary Education.
Every year, as the lead fifth grade teacher at my current job, I transform my classroom into an exciting learning retreat, where my students are always eagerly anticipating our next learning immersion. Every year, parents email, call, and push to have their children placed into my class; my creative efforts as an educator are recognized by fellow teachers who often emulate my teaching methods, students, and, importantly, parents. It is my emphasis on communication with parents, through conferences, calls, emails, and in-person meetings, that keeps parents informed of their child’s academic progress vis-à-vis the individual student goals that I establish with them at the beginning of the year. Parents with children who struggle academically appreciate the time and effort I place in creating individually modified lessons, assignments, and providing their child with the additional attention they need. I have also taught 5th grade honors reading and math for the past six years, creating customized lessons to challenge our gifted students. Moreover, I created the lesson plans for all 5th grade teachers, which are used every year to maintain consistency at the school.
Over the past 6 years, I've taught and differentiated instruction for 5th grade math (honors and regulars).
Over the past 6 years, I've taught and differentiated instruction for 5th grade reading, with an emphasis on common core skills. I've recently been hired to teach middle school (grades 6-8) literature for the upcoming year.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
