About Audrey

I am here to help you achieve your best.

I graduated from Pomona College in 2016 with departmental honors in Political Science. At Pomona, I worked in the writing center, a position that requires a half-credit class as training. Even more important than my academic background is my attitude towards tutoring. I expect a lot of myself and my students, but I also strive to play a patient, friendly role in our tutoring sessions. I don't only want to see my students improve, I want to see my students want to improve! The key to succeeding academically lies with investing yourself in your work, a trait I seek to instill in the students I work with.

My primary subject is English, encompassing vocabulary, proof-reading, writing, and literature. I also tutor for all sections on the PSAT, ACT, and SAT and all high-school-level courses and below.

Please contact me if you have any questions about my specific credentials or tutoring policies. I look forward to working with you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a student at a top liberal arts college who has been an A student since middle school. I have experience tutoring disadvantaged children in elementary and middle school through an after-school program in Chicago. I have also been a camp counselor and babysitter, so I am adept at dealing with children from a variety of backgrounds.

Elementary Math

I have taken the time to review the math taught at an elementary level. I also took a course last semester about unique ways to teach mathematical concepts. If your child is struggling to grasp the material as his/her teacher has presented it, I may have new ideas of how to present the same concepts. Finally, my general good grades in high level math over the years make me a natural candidate to teach the simpler underlying ideas.

English

I have never received less than an A in an English course. I am an English minor at Pomona College. I have received special recognition for my essays, and attended selective classes and writing workshops. At college, I work in the writing center, helping first year students with their first college-level essays.

PSAT

I only missed one point on the PSAT, receiving a 239 out of 240. This means I scored perfectly on the Critical Reading and Mathematics sections. I was a National Merit Finalist because of my score.

Public Speaking

I have competed for two years on Pomona College Mock Trial as both an attorney and witness. These roles require me to speak for up to 9 minutes at a time, delivering persuasive remarks to a jury, sometimes unmemorized. I have won 5 individual awards in this activity, and competed in the division-deciding round at the National Championship. I also captained a team of new participants this year, so I have experience teaching public speaking skills.
