In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a 30 year career in banking with five of the country's most prestigious banks: Citigroup, JP Morgan Chase, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs and now US Bank.
I received a BA in Economics from Amherst College and completed a MS degree in Finance from Indiana University Kelly School of Business. I have also successfully competed certificate programs to become a Certified Treasury Professional and Certified Financial Planner at Northwestern University in Evanston. I have easily passed and maintained all required licenses for my various positions in these banks over the past 30 years.
I began my studies of piano and violin at the age of four, and pursued my musical studies as a music major at Amherst College, where I received top honors and awards. Subsequently I earned my Master of Music degree at the Yale School of Music in 1986, and have been working part-time as a professional musician, as a church organist, singer, violinist, duo and solo pianist and accompanist for the past thirty years, even though my primary income-earning profession has been in banking.
As a parent of three grown children, I tutored them in a variety of subjects including business, economics and music, and continue to work with young high school students as an accompanist and coach.
