I LUV to help music students solve the tricky problems in music. I was a professor for many years, nominated FACULTY MEMBER OF THE YEAR in two different colleges, and I love--absolutely LOVE to teach! I was the Head of a High School Music Prep school, and my theory students would enter college and INSTANTLY test out of Music Theory I. What is the sign of great tutoring and great teaching? The best teachers and tutors know how to teach YOU to master a skill, in the QUICKEST ways. Period. Is there a subject in Music History that baffles you? Is your prof/teacher a few notches off from "stellar"? And what about Music Theory? Do you cringe when you get an explanation that only makes things... worse? Do you need help with ear training/aural music skills? We should get together!!!!!
And what about music performance? It takes an experienced, CONCERT-LEVEL performer to play well, but not all players can teach... and I offer you BOTH! New practice techniques are yours for the asking. New ways to analyze the best ways to master performance struggles and performance nerves. And singers--- do you need help in mastering the pronunciation of ITALIAN, FRENCH, GERMAN and SPANISH songs and arias? I can help make YOU pronounce your vocal texts and libretti as if you were a FLUENT speaker. I like to meet in public places and discreetly dispel and neutralize your concerns. High School students may ALWAYS bring a parent along. Let's get together and get you the CLARITY of understanding you deserve. QUICKLY! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a professional composer and arranger, meaning I am paid to write music. More important--- I've taught composition to many students, and understand the fundamentals of trends and styles of music composition. Have much experience with MakeMusic's FINALE, and its derivatives.
Some people simply want to know the basics about music. My course, "The FUNdamentals of Music", was always filled with a waiting list. Why? I know how to relay the basics of music in an easy-to-learn way.
I am a professional arranger, utilizing MIDI and live recording media. I can teach you how to use your synth to produce music, how to use a DAW, as well as familiarize you with the concepts of compression, effects, and signal processing.
I teach Music Theory students to sight sing. If you need brush-up help, or general guidelines, I am your tutor!
What makes a song "good"? What does it take to come up with both a good melody AND a great lyric? I write songs, and have had many songs acclaimed by the recording industry. Let's work on your melodies and your lyrics!
