Allow me to help you, or your child, by bringing key organizational skills to existing patterns of study, or the lack thereof; and give additional guidance to reading and writing assignments, thereby improving achievements in the various language arts, social sciences, and other fields of study. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have now been a certified Illinois substitute teacher for the past twelve years. I work with children in kindergarten through the twelfth grade. I can provide elementary school children general guidance in improving their organizational and study skills, with a strong emphasis on the language arts and social studies. I am certainly able to give general help with science and arithmetic. However, if that is where there is a major weakness, I would suggest a tutor with a more specialized background in those areas.
