I am a professional photographer with over 30 years of experience doing social events, corporate and charitable events, portraiture and other studio work.
Although I am experienced in film, I now work strictly in digital imaging. I love to teach and at one point I was on the adjunct faculty of Oakton Community.
I have been helping friends and family learn to get the most out of their digital photography by utilizing all of the capabilities their equipment allows. I still have a studio location in Highland Park and would be willing to instruct students in studio lighting with hands on experience in those skills.
How to pose a subject and compose a scene is as important as the physical operation of the camera. I also offer suggestions and instruction in the use of basic
picture editing. I am a professional photographer with over 30 years of experience doing social events, corporate and charitable events, portraiture and other studio work.

Larry is a very good tutor who is knowledgeable and very flexible. He tailors his lesson to your level and needs. He has an easy conversational approach; he doesn't get locked in on one linear lesson. We focus on whatever issue I have. His equipment recommendations were very helpful. I made fast progress with Larry.
I have tried several tutors and Larry is the best. He is teaching me not only about the multiple mechanical functions of the camera, but more importantly the art of taking a great picture. This comes from his extensive experience and from his ability to imagine an image before he presses the shutter button. He is very passionate about what he does, completely relaxed and fun to be around. He is an excellent teacher who wants to instil his photographic abilities into my brain.
I had a lesson on 06/27/12; I am leaving for a vacation and needed a tutorial before I left. Larry was very accommodating. We met at the Botanic Gardens. He continues to amaze and amuse me with his positive attitude backed by years of experience. He has me convinced that I will soon be taking great photographic shots. I can e-mail him or call him with any questions. I had another positive experience.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently a professional photographer with over 30 years of experience including event photography such as corporate meetings, Weddings and other religious celebrations, and charitable events. Currently, I mostly do portraits, and studio work as well as fine art photography.
I am offering instruction in Digital Photography to include basic camera operation as well as advanced use of the equipment. In addition, I tutor how to manage lighting both on-site as well as in my studio on the North Shore.
In order to round out your digital skills, I teach basic photo editing using easily understood programs.
