I am a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago. I hold a BA in education, but minored in accounting. I am also a licensed EMT, and have an extensive span of knowledge in many subjects, including English (literature, grammar, etc.), many of the sciences, all aspects of history, and many focuses in the arts. I am very experienced in the realm of theatrical productions, having acted in more than two dozen productions both at the amateur and professional levels, and have directed multiple more productions. Having worked for several years as a teacher, I am comfortable with all levels and styles of learning, and am skilled at making the most seemingly complex ideas easy to understand. I enjoy a one on one approach with students that I tutor, and have many wonderful and effective ideas for test preparation, as well as knowledge retention from day-to-day classes. If you have any questions for me or would like more detail as to my methods, please feel free to contact me and I will respond as quickly as I can. Thank you for your consideration. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have read the Bible many times, and have studied it both on my own and in multiple groups for several years. I have also taken classes in Bible study and interpretation.
I have a teaching license from the State of Illinois Board of Education for teaching grades 6-12 in English, however I have multiple years of experience teaching students from grades K-12 in all subjects, from English to Math to Science, Social Studies, etc. I held a long-term substitute position in a grade school in 2006 and had K-1 and 6-8 grades taught computers as well as other subjects on a daily basis, creating day to day lesson plans for them and creating projects to be completed.
I have been using Microsoft Windows for many years, ever since I first began using a computer. I have experience with all versions of Windows, from 3.1 through 7. I can help students to run any programs that they would like, including getting word processing programs and email programs initialized and running smoothly. I regularly use a MS Windows computer for work, as well as my personal computer for entertainment, information, etc., so I am well informed as to the ins and outs (for lack of a better term) of the operating software.
I attended Catholic school for grades k-12 and attended a Catholic University as well. This is not to say that my knowledge of world religion is limited only to Catholicism. I have taken many classes on Judasim, Islam, Hinduism, and many of the world's other religions, and while I don't proclaim to be an expert in any of them (including Catholicism/Christianity), I do have a deep understanding of their core beliefs and practices.
I have been involved in more than 24 theatrical productions as an actor, playing both minor and major roles. My experience has been with both amateur and professional theatrical companies, both performing straight plays (comedies, dramas, etc.) and stage musicals (as a singer/actor/dancer). My theatrical experience is not solely limited to on-stage endeavors, however. I have directed three amateur productions, and have helped in set design and construction, sound and lighting design, and other technical aspects of theater.
