During COVID19 Social Distancing, I am happy to work with any students, especially college students, who have gone from classroom instruction to on-line forum. This can be a difficult transition for those trying to make that leap and I am here to help.

My primary focus is students in Middle School, High School and college, as well as adults returning to college, with a focus writing. I have experience coaching writing and grammar for a PhD student who finished her dissertation, and nursing students going for their BSN who have difficulty in preparing the necessary written papers needed for their classes. I give guidance on how to write the paper, get down ideas, and make necessary APA adaptations.

I am patient with students who have a different learning style and love to encourage students who do not like to read by giving them a purpose for reading. I have been a teaching assistant in a middle school setting for 14+ years. I have worked with students in the reading department doing interventions for fluency and comprehension skills. I also have classroom experience in literature, science, and history. I have also raised a daughter on the autism spectrum who graduated from the University of Dubuque and is going on for her Master's in Social Work.

I received BA in Liberal and Integrative Studies from the University of Illinois, Springfield and completed a classed on tutoring. I am proficient in DBQ type writing and have knowledge of MLA and APA formats, as well as annotated bibliographies. I have also worked with students to prep for AP and SAT writing prompts.

My daughter and I have written a book about autism and have spoken to a few groups. Prior to becoming a teaching assistant I worked in the electronics industry, video game industry, and newspaper industry. I have proofreading experience, copy writing experience and often help students understand why they are learning the things they are learning and how they can be applied to real world situations.

I also did many study guides and adaptations for my daughter with autism when she was in K-6th and have kept most of the flash cards and study guides I used with her throughout these grades.

A great tutor that has the patience of a saint

I needed immediate help to revise a PhD paper that was destined to get a failing grade. Natalie responded to my Wyzant email promptly, and we schedule a meeting within 2 days. I brought everything I thought we needed to the meeting and so did Natalie. After reading my paper, and the scoring guide we were ready to began work. Natalie spent hours with me describing the issues my instructor found in the original paper, and why the issues had occurred. I began to see my flaws in the paper, therefore immediately starting working to make the corrections. Throughout the many hours, Natalie remained very patient, stating "we will be here for as long as it takes." The revised paper got a (A) thanks to Natalie's tutoring. I am so grateful that she responded to my email, and I plan on working with her from this point on. Thanks Natalie.

Knowledgable tutor for college prep

Natalie worked with my daughter on preparing for college. They focused on reading and writing skills. She was extremely helpful and organized. She had lessons prepared that were tailored to my daughters learning style and needs. She had many great strategies that can be applied to any subject. She gave her good resources to help throughout college and by the end of summer my daughter was able to write a college essay successful. I would highly recommend Natalie!
