I would like for you to understand that I am a tutor/instructor that can offer you a kind of support that is unparalleled. I have experience with the 21st century Common Core, and learning methods. However, as a student that grew up with a learning disability and attention deficits, I personally understand how to develop the social skills that are needed in order to sustain in classroom. In addition, I have spent 12 plus years teaching in all subjects at some point in my career. Additionally, I have online, home school and classroom experience in both public and private education. Also, I was given the students with special needs as well as differently talented, or out-of-the-box type of students while being included. In addition, I am a parent of a twice-exceptional child. My main goal is to provide instruction that is student-centered. As I connect and engage with your child, we will develop a love for learning that can be sustained throughout life. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I spent 12 years working with students that are ADHD/ADD and other anxiety related emotional processing issues in an inclusive classroom. I too am ADHD and have a child that is ADHD.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have Illinois certification (03). I am endorsed in middle school social studies and language arts.

Phonics

I am a certified teacher grades K-9 in Illinois (03). I currently homeschool my kindergartner and fifth grader (who is reading well above grade level). In addition, I have 14 years of teaching reading in diverse settings as both an interventionist and primary reading teacher K-12. Also, I was a literacy coach to reading teachers and was trained by the Consortium of Reading Excellence in areas of phonics K-12.

Praxis

I have taken this exam and passed. I have two master's degrees in education including educational leadership (observation of teachers).

Reading

I hold two masters' degrees. I have 12 plus years experience in diverse learning environments. I hold endorsements in ELA and social science.

Social Studies

Currently, I am an Illinois certified teacher in social studies (03) with a middle school endorsement. I also have 14 years of teaching experience including: ancient, world, geography and American History.

Special Needs

Hi,

I currently tutor a student with specials needs. I have elementary education experience where I co-taught special needs classes in order to differentiate the regular education curriculum.
