Currently I am a teacher within the Alton Community Unit School District #11 and have been a professional educator for nine years. I have experience at all three academic levels (elementary, middle, and high school). My undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education with endorsements in applied and social sciences. I have two master's degrees: Educational Administration and Theology. In addition, I have all of the coursework finished for a PhD in Educational Leadership at Saint Louis University and am working on completing my dissertation. Ultimately, I love learning and hope to instill this love of learning in the students I tutor.
I am 32 years old, have a beautiful and amazing wife (she is also a teacher), and we were just blessed with our first child in March 2016. I enjoy reading, primarily religious literature, but have started to cultivate a love for classical literature. In addition to my formal education and teaching experience in schools I have been tutoring for years in various capacities. One example is tutoring students, within my school district, who have been removed from the traditional classroom setting and who need intensive support. Overall, I hope to apply my experiences to working with your student.
All of my leisure reading revolves around philosophy and religion. In addition, I have a Master's Degree in Theology.
My undergraduate degree is in elementary education and I loved the time I spent working with this age group as an elementary teacher. Currently I teach 7th grade because I believe this age group needs the most support. However, the capacity for growth shown in elementary students always encourages me and I enjoy my time working with elementary aged students.
I have been teaching history in schools for eight years and continue to appreciate the subject more each year. In addition, I have been awarded numerous educational grants during the summer months to further study American History.
I love learning and incorporating practical and "real world" experiences into the educational setting in order for the students to better grasp the material. I am looking forward to helping your student reach and obtain new academic heights! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master's Degree in Theology from Newman University in Wichita, Kansas. Through this theology program I studied both Old and New Testament texts. In addition, I passed a language proficiency test in Latin.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Southern University Illinois at Edwardsville. I have one year experience as a fifth grade teacher and seven years of teaching experience at the middle school level. In addition, I have held numerous tutoring positions of students K-12.
I have been a professional educator for nine years and have worked intensively with students who have special needs. Four of the nine years I worked within a co-taught classroom in which myself and a special educator modified lessons on a needs basis. I believe my experience and my degrees have prepared me to tutor students with special needs.
