Hello. My name is Pablo R. and I have been teaching and helping students learn and use mathematics for 10 years in the south suburbs of Chicago. I currently live in Glenwood with my wife of 18 years and have lived here for 16 years. I have a standard IL license to teach math at the secondary level, which is like saying, I get to teach learners math between the ages of 13-19. My license can be presented upon request. While I can demonstrate the teaching and the learning mathematics in a large group or in a small group, I find that the best way to learn math is by doing math and using the mentor/tutor-student relationship in getting to know the student to find their strengths and weaknesses and to then build from where they are at.

I teach math using a language arts approach so that discussion and writing is used in a way to enhance the learning as students solve problems and then reflect upon what is working and what is not working. What I love about the one to one learning relationship is the breaking down of barriers that can be created with a large class size learning where positive relationships are not utilized. Making connections with real-life uses of mathematics is also a strategy that I use to help create retention and engagement. Mathematics is NOT a spectator sport and being proactive with the thinking and the writing down of those thoughts play key roles in the learning of mathematics. I believe what makes me an outstanding tutor is in my ability to find out what works best with diverse learners.

If you are interested in learning mathematics using a style that fits the best way you learn and having a tutor that will adapt their teaching style to your learning style, then I can be of help.

Let me know.
