My name is John B. and I love to teach and lead people to achieve their objectives and their dreams. I have extensive experience leading teams, developing employees and achieving stretch goals. I love to provide leadership to teams in my professional life, but also love to coach and teach my own kids so thought it would be great to try teaching other kids (and adults) as well. That is why I am getting connected to students in Wyzant. I have very deep experience in a variety of topics and would love to help you to become more expert in the worlds of finance, accounting, business, growing revenues and mergers and acquisitions.
My personal interests include spending time with my family and outdoor activities of all kinds including fishing, skiing, skin diving, biking and traveling.
I have 25 years of deep experience in spreadsheets, primarily Microsoft Excel. I spent 10 years in investment banking developing earnings models and mergers models in Excel with Visual Basic code elements. I have built Monte Carlo scenario models, Bayesian analytical models, database bridge conversion tools, and Riemann sum calculus models, among others. In addition to these quantitative modeling techniques, I have deep experience with the core Excel functionality including charting, functions (statistics, text, engineering, finance), formatting, file conversions, etc. and have built numerous custom functions for specific applications.
I have thirty years of experience in business, with the most recent 10 years as a CFO and a CEO. I have started numerous companies and acquired a few as well, so I am very experienced in the issues involved in M&A. I have taken numerous companies public, obtained financing for many, and managed teams of a dozen investment bankers, attorneys and CPAs in the process. I have passed all three Chartered Financial Analyst examinations, a very exclusive accomplishment. I have an MBA from the University of Chicago with a concentration in Analytic Finance. I know how to apply financial theory to real life situations. In addition to my finance skills, I also have extensive experience on the IT side, and have rolled out ERP systems in a number of organizations, including designing the entire platform design for a manufacturing company myself from scratch.
I look forward to helping you with you next project or school assignment. I know that I could help you in the fields that I have listed as my greatest strengths. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
