University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A. Journalism)
National Louis University (Enrolled)
I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.A. degree in Journalism (emphasis in strategic communication) and I am currently in the process of earning an M.A.T. in Early Childhood Education from National Louis University. I have the necessary credentials, work experience, and professional acumen to help any student reach their highest potential in the areas of reading, writing, and English.
My experience includes long-term substitute teaching and more than 6 years as a child-care worker for various families, for which I not only took on the role as “parent,” but also teacher and friend. I have helped children to master various reading, writing, spelling, and English skills by collecting resources and designing reference tools that would allow them to easier grasp each concept and skill as gracefully as possible. I enjoy analyzing each child’s needs in order to discover the most effective teaching strategies and playing a role in their educational success, which I find extremely rewarding.
The intensive writing I did as an undergraduate journalism major has made me not only an exceptional writer, but reader as well. Furthermore, my time spent as an Account Manager for an eCommerce art company has made me a brilliant communicator as I was responsible for managing and developing partnerships with over 10 national and international eCommerce partners that include Nordstrom and Hautelook. I am enthusiastic about utilizing these skills to help students improve their grades and test scores.
One of my goals for each session is to keep the student challenged, but not overwhelmed. I assign homework after every lesson, and I provide periodic assessments and progress reports.
Due to my background in journalism I am an excellent reader and writer as well as familiar with the different formats, such as MLA and APA. I have taken classes that trained me in the art of writing clear and concise thesis statements as well as proofreading and revising essays.
I am generally available for tutoring on Monday from 11am to 3pm and Tuesday-Sunday 11am to 9pm. I can travel to students or meet them online. My base rate is $60/hour. I also offer lesson packages at a discount – contact me for more details!
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
