No matter where I go or what I do in life I will always consider myself a student, which is the reason I am pursuing a career in the field of education. I currently hold a BA in English with a concentration in media, social, and rhetorical studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. My major in English has served me well in becoming a proficient writer as well as a strong oral communicator. Aside from my concentration I also studied British, English, and 20th Century literature and of course my favorite, Shakespeare. I am currently entering my first semester of my Master’s Program through National Louis University where I am pursuing a MA in Secondary Education with a Teaching Certification and I couldn’t be more excited! My goal, one day, is to teach and coach (basketball) at the middle school or high school level.
Over the last five years I have worked in parks and recreation overseeing the day-to-day operations/ programs of a recreational facility as well as effectively planning and running youth sports and development programs. I have successfully led both the after-school and summer camp programs comprising of preschool to middle school aged students; planning and implementing academically enriching activities and games, and providing a safe and nurturing learning environment. Working in recreation has allowed me first-hand experience of what it is like to work with students. The goal of the after-school program is to provide students with a viable resource for learning, socializing, and staying active. I want to continue to work with students and be a resource for them to become proficient readers and writers. I want to be able to share my knowledge and experiences with students so that the educational process is an enjoyable to them as it was for me.
I volunteer what free time I have remaining to coach basketball, as I am adamant about team building and growth through sports and other recreational activity.
I can tutor English, Grammar, Proofreading, Reading, Writing, Literature, Analytical Analysis, Literary Analysis, ACT, etc. No matter where I go or what I do in life I will always consider myself a student, which is the reason I am pursuing a career in the field of education. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
