I am an expert on local history, and have experience working for an educational publishing company, where I worked in the field of research and fact-checking. I have contributed to many U. S. and World History texts, and have my own published works as well. I taught Advanced Placement European History and APUSH for many years, and enjoyed extremely high pass rates throughout this time (thanks in large part to the students' hard work!). During my years at the Princeton Review, I helped students significantly increase their scores on the ACT, SAT, and GRE exams, and had some of the best score improvements in North Carolina. I have taught at the Governor's School in Mississippi, in central North Carolina, in New York State, and here in Illinois. I was a history major and physics minor at Northwestern University, and earned a full scholarship to graduate school (Wake Forest University) where I obtained my MA. My 200+ page thesis focused on the Swedish and English settlements in early Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.

I enjoy tutoring history, reading, math, science, and English, and am well-versed in all academic fields. I have experience in tutoring subjects including: SAT math, reading, and writing; ACT math, reading, English, and science; American, European, and World History; Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Prealgebra, Trigonometry, elementary math, geometry; geography; GED; and more, and am qualified to tutor in each of these fields. My former Scholastic Bowl team qualified for nationals several times, and we won numerous Conference Championships. I have been married for nineteen years, and have two wonderful children, aged 13 and 10, both of whom LOVE to read. I collect antique books and newspapers, and have led several historic walking tours in the Fox Valley. I'm also the President of Preservation Partners of the Fox Valley, an organization focused on historic preservation and education. I h

Helpful. Thanks.

Will try the suggestions he gave. Hoping to schedule another lesson. APUSH is super hard and he seemed to really know what he was talking about. He had a friendly demeanor and listened well as well.

Ortal, 1 lesson with Adam

He is very knowledgeable and is a very patient tutor.

He reviewed the chapters I missed when I was out sick. My teacher's lecture notes or Power Point presentation was too general. Adam explained in detail what happened.

Extremely Knowledgeable Tutor

Adam worked extremely well with my son; they connected right away and had a very positive tutoring session. Adam assessed my son's needs and tailored the session around them. He is extremely knowledgeable in great test-taking strategies, tips, and suggestions, and he communicated well with both myself and my son. My son has a great new sense of confidence going into his SAT exam.

Great tutor!

Adam has been working with my daughter for the last month on prepping for the ACT. She loves her lessons and is progressing quickly through practice tests, when she comes across problems she doesn’t understand her and Adam work through them which builds her knowledge and also her confidence. So far we are extremely satisfied with our sessions.

Helped me to review and gain confidence for GRE

Adam really helped me with the Math portion of the GRE by showing me some great tricks and breaking the problems down to make it seem so easy. I haven't had a formal math class in over 10 years and he really helped me to review and gain confidence for my test!!

The tutor we were hoping for

We were hoping to find a tutor/teacher who could help a good student who needed help in focused areas. Adam was able to quickly identify that and make quick progress were needed. He was also able to quickly make my daughter (and my wife) feel comfortable with our choice. We would give him the highest of recommendations.

Excellent math tutor for girl with ADHD

Warmly recommend Adam. My daughter has ADHD and some working memory impairments. He was both calm, methodical and very patient. Explained geometry for my daughter in a way that made sense to her and they made age headway in getting caught up in math and raising her grades. Wish I would have done this months ago.

Helpful ACT Tutor

Very helpful in techniques and lessons. Teaches different methods to succeed in taking ACT. Teaches a way to understand all sections of ACT and I am feeling very confident for future test date.

He has a gift!

My son met with Adam for SAT prep help. Adam came prepared with math work. My son came away from their first meeting very happy that he had "learned something"! He is looking forward to their next session, which is a win in itself.
