I love helping students to succeed. It is my job as a certified teacher in all the sciences and social sciences to help students become aware of their strengths and teach them methods to overcome their weaknesses. Usually just a few sessions and a lot a positive reinforcement will work wonders with a frustrated student. I consider my student's success as my measure of my own success.

I have many years of teaching experience in all types of environments with all types of students. As a substitute in several districts for many years, I have been in all types of schools and classrooms. I have also taught in a private high school, college, the business world, and in a children's hands on science museum. My background is a broad brush of many different teaching experiences and I bring this experience to the table with each student I work with.

I began my teaching in the social science areas of Economics, Government (Political science) and Sociology and through additional schooling I have become certified in Psychology, AP U.S. History, World History, as well as AP Biology, AP Earth Science, Chemistry and Physics. I also love to write and have taught literature, composition, creative writing, and Argument and Rhetorical Analysis. I particularly like to help students analyze and improve their study skills and have been quite successful at this.

Please see an example of my work in the Lessons section where I wrote an explanation of Active Transport for the Biology section.

My tutoring area is between South Elgin and the north side of Aurora. Unfortunately, Naperville is just too far away to include.

If chosen, I will do my best to help your child succeed at his/her highest level possible.

As an English composition and Creative Writing teacher I have a very high understanding of how important proofreading is. It is critically important for serious writers. Study skills is a subject area I have a great deal of experience in, ranging from grade school to college students. It covers such areas as organization, time management, how to read a textbook, how to find important information, test taking skills, and other topics. It is important to determine for each student what area they need the most help in and work from that starting point. I substitute taught for 8 years in Pre-K through seniors in high school and I worked with all sorts of children who needed special help in their studies.
