My passion is creating works of art on canvas, paper, or other found objects. I am active in the art community of the south and southwest suburbs of Chicago. I am a member of Tall Grass Art Studio in Park Forest, Union Street Gallery in Chicago Heights, Monkey Mind Art Studio and Gallery in Frankfort. I also meet with The Artist Club of Faith in Orland Park once a week. This is an intimate group that shares ideas and techniques. We also reach out to the community.
My art education includes Columbia College, Chicago and Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago. I have taken several studio art classes at Palette and Chisel, Chicago and Joliet Junior College, Joliet.
I lived in Chicago for about 35 years before moving to Frankfort 2 years ago. Now that I am settled here I would like to share my art with others through tutoring in the surrounding area. Took his time with me, teaching water color techniques. We completed a small painting as he taught through it.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My art education includes Columbia College, Chicago and Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago. I draw using pencil, pastel, and charcoal on paper. I have taken several drawing courses. These include Drawing I and II, Figure Drawing, and Anatomy. I stay active by attending a Figure Drawing workshop at a studio at least once a month. Samples of my work are available by request.
I recently completed an art challenge which included 100 faces for April 2012. I had my sketchbook available to complete this challenge. Most of these were pencil and pastel drawings.
I paint using acrylic, oil, or watercolor. I mainly paint on canvas, canvas banners, and paper. I am inspired by many subjects.
I have taken several painting courses. These were at Columbia College, Chicago and Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago. The courses include Painting I and II and 300 level Studio Art classes. I have also taken several Art History classes, including 300 level special interest classes.
I have participated in many art exhibits. These include solo and group shows. I have my artwork on display at Paul Henry's Gallery in Hammond, IN, etc., INC in Frankfort, Monkey Mind Art Studio and Gallery, Frankfort, and White Street Gallery and Framing, Frankfort. I am planning to have work on display at Brushstrokes in New Lenox.
I attend weekly open studios in Park Forest and Orland Park to create new works.
Finally, my work is also on display on a few websites. I enjoy sharing my work with others and also viewing their work.
