I am currently a Family and Consumer Science teacher at a local High School in Lake Geneva, WI. I have been teaching for 4 years and am currently half way through a Master's Reading Specialist program through Concordia University. I have a passion for teaching and helping to provide children with opportunities of success. Teaching in an elective area, I have classes that include students who are above a 12th grade reading level and some that are only at a 4th grade reading level. This is what motivated me to begin my Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist. I have worked one-on-one with 1st and 2nd grade students to improve their comprehension, phonemic awareness, and fluency skills through the use of interactive, hands-on lessons. I can provide these examples in person. I have experience working with 1st-12th graders of all different levels including gifted students and students with disabilities. Teaching has always been my passion, and I strive to motivate each and every student to be successful.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
