Hello, prospective student!

My name is Kathryn, and I've been delighted to tutor people across the country since 2004. I graduated with honors from Arizona State University's Barrett Honors College, with one bachelor’s degree in marketing, and the other in chemistry. I have two graduate degrees (an MBA and MS in analytics) from UW-Madison and have done some doctoral work at a top research (R1) university. I now work professionally in marketing analytics & strategy insight consulting. My primary topics for online tutoring include: statistics, experimental design, all MBA/undergraduate business school topics, presentations/data visualization, academic writing, and college applications.

My main skill as a tutor might initially sound a little strange: it's listening. So many people do not take the time to understand what a student is confused about, or how a student learns, before starting to work with them. Taking the time to do that preliminary step -- and continuing to listen throughout our time together -- makes lessons more efficient, and makes the experience much more enjoyable.

As I've been tutoring for nearly twenty years, I have long experience with helping people from many backgrounds and age levels learn. This includes students who speak English as a foreign language as well as those who are coming back to education after a long break.

I aim to never be condescending -- I'm here to help you learn, not judge you for where you are. Anyone who is looking for a tutor clearly wants to excel, and I firmly believe my purpose is to help you in every way I can. My favorite part of tutoring has been watching my students achieve, and often surpass, their goals.

I worked as a college counseling admin for several years at a Big 10 university. I did much of the primary reading/sorting of applications (including discarding applications that were not a good fit) for the counselors. I have since helped three people through WyzAnt, and several outside of WyzAnt, get into one of their top qualified universities by helping them understand what the university valued and how to honestly but compellingly tell their own story.

She’s the tutor I’ve been looking for!!! I wasted just under $1000.00 on three different tutors trying to find someone to help me with my Bus-20 work. She has been more than helpful and she takes the time to explain the concepts in a timely and concise manner. 10/10 highly recommend!!!!
