I am a 33-year-old certified teacher. My experience tutoring started when I was an undergrad at Loyola University Chicago and worked as an English teacher for adults at the Literacy Center. I continued my English tutoring while I worked as first grade teacher in Italy in 2005 (a language I grew up speaking).
Upon returning, I taught self-contained first and second grade, and tutored Spanish two days a week. I went to Notre Dame and received my ESL/Bilingual endorsement.
Two years later, I moved to Sonora, Mexico and taught second grade at an International School.
I currently teach full-time elementary ESL and I am finishing my last 2 classes for my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I also have a group of 5 adults who take Italian lessons from me on Wednesday nights!
During my 10 years teaching, I have tutored numerous elementary aged children in all subject areas. During my previous position as an English as a Second Language Coordinator/Teacher in Chicago, I tutored groups of students in English and Math on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. I love seeing children (as well as adults) learn a new skill and feel proud of themselves.
I'm flexible, fun and friendly :) I hope to talk to you soon!
My experiences abroad and the fact that I hold a teaching license and ESL/Bilingual endorsement in Illinois.
I grew up speaking Italian. I still return every summer for "la dolce vita." I'm also endorsed to teach Italian in Illinois.
I studied Spanish for 8 years, lived and taught in Mexico, and have passed the state bilingual Spanish exam.
I'm patient, understanding, and love learning! Having the opportunity to facilitate learners and obtain their goals makes me enjoy my job each and every day!
I'm available weekdays after 5:00 p.m., as well as weekend afternoons.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a valid Illinois type 03 Teaching Certificate (now recently changed names to Professional Educator's License PEL). This type of certification is valid for students in Kindergarten through 9th grade. Besides being certified as a teacher, I have also tutored students in this grade level range.
I grew up speaking Italian, and I am a Certified teacher in Illinois with an Endorsement in Italian.
