I am a recent graduate of Ashford University. I have obtained my bachelor's degree in psychology. I have a lot of writing experience with the papers that I have written for my classes. I also have published article for a newspaper website and on Google News. English has always been my best subject through school. I also have personal experience with autism as for my 15 year old son has autism, and my daughter who is 9 may be a little ADD. I have always been able to relate with children and they like me usually. I have always been pretty good with children. I have also had experience with individuals who have developmental disabilities and their learning programs. I really enjoy helping people succeed.
I like to motivate individuals by making them feel important. I point out the good things that they do as well as the area that they need help in. I lighten up the situation by telling jokes, asking them about things that they like to do, what subjects in school they do like, etc. I treat the individuals like they are an actual person and that they do really matter to me and that their education matters to me. I develop routines that individuals become accustom to. When there are routines, the individuals knows what to expect and when. I like to get individuals involve in identifying their learning needs. I start with what the individual already knows and then work from there. I talk about what is being learned and I also give plenty of examples. Then I have the individual try it for their self. I accommodate individuals preferred learning style so learning and understanding is easier for them whether it be by listening, by watching, or by doing. I also praise individuals for doing good work. If an individual is stressed about their school work, I work with the individual to identify sources of their stress, help the individual learn new strategies for managing stress, and select strategies they will implement.
