Hi! I am Kang Hyun, an experienced SAT and TOEFL tutor.
I scored a perfect 1600 on the SAT and a 119 on TOEFL, so I know what it takes to achieve excellence on standardized exams. If you are a high achiever aiming for a near-perfect score, then I have the tools, techniques, and strategies to get you through the final stretch.
The SAT is a standardized exam with set patterns with regards to the questions you can get, so building a precise intuition with which you quickly identify the type of the question, and a near-habitual response where you sift through the text to find exactly what you need, will easily guide you towards near-perfection. While you can take the time and effort to build these yourself, a quicker and easier way is to have someone guide you. For this exam, I will tell you which question is of which type then quiz you; I will show you which parts of the text reveal answers to which kinds of questions.
The TOEFL is one-of-a-kind, in that it is an exam that you train for, rather than study for. You will need to generate long-form spoken and written responses in a matter of seconds, which is why the spoken and written sections are what usually keep students from perfection. For this exam, I will teach you techniques and strategies that are often counter-intuitive, and therefore require repetitive and guided practice.
I am a Neuroscience and Statistics student at Northwestern University. I have an Early Assurance acceptance from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, at which I plan to matriculate in the June of 2024. I am currently on a leave from my studies to travel and pursue my extracurricular interests.
I've worked as a tutor for two years now, solely via referrals thus far. I am now on Wyzant to diversify and expand my student base and to make use of its review feature.
