Greetings! I am the mother of four young adults and love working with and connecting with students of all ages. I worked as a journalist for many years, then as my kids grew older I switched to teaching. Greetings! I am the mother of four young adults and love working with and connecting with students of all ages. I worked as a journalist for many years, then as my kids grew older I switched to teaching. I have primarily taught French (all levels, including AP) and English (literature and writing), but I also work with people learning Italian or German.

As a tutor, I am patient and kind, but definitely encourage students to reach their potential. Building confidence is one of the keys to success, as I find that when students feel good about themselves and their progress, they are more motivated to succeed. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a student reach his or her goals and feel successful.

French - one of my three majors in college, spent junior year at a college in France, taught seven years of high school French and have tutored all levels for many years. I continue to travel to France very few years to keep my skills current.

Italian - I spent seven years in Italian classes as an adult, and worked one on one with a tutor, focusing on conversation, for three years. I enrolled in a two week language and cooking class in Italy, and travel to the country as often as possible to practice speaking.

German: when I was a student in France, I connected with German relatives and spent a considerable amount of time in their homes. I learned a lot of German with them, but also was motivated to student it in college afterwards. I continue to speak German with those relatives when we visit each other every few years.

One of my college majors was English literature, and I worked as a journalist for several decades - researching, writing, editing and proofreading. I am an avid reader and enjoy helping tutoring students understand literature. I have helped several students with college application essays, and they all received the acceptances they wanted. I thoroughly enjoy helping others express themselves more effectively.

I often hear from former students that their work with me helped the through a difficult time or assisted them in achieving success. It makes me so happy to keep connections with those students and to watch them blossom and succeed. I think you will find that I am understanding of life’s pressures, adept at tailoring sessions to different learning styles, and skilled at teaching difficult concepts. I look forward to working with you or your child.

BIG THANK YOU!

Linda is amazing, she helped my son go from a D to a B in his AP English class. She made learning fun and engaging. More importantly my son wanted to apply his new grammar knowledge. THANK YOU!

Amy, 18 lessons with Linda

Super fast, thorough and extremely knowledgeable

Linda was so easy and pleasant to work with. I was on a time crunch and needed an extra pair of eyes to edit a fairly long paper. Within 48 hours, she put 4 hours into editing it and met with me to discuss her suggestions. The turn around time was HUGE given my time crunch. She knows her stuff, gave me big picture suggestions as well as lighted patterns in my writing that I could curb to make for a more crisp read. I would work with Linda again in a heartbeat. THANK YOU!
