University of Chicago at Illinois (Education)
I have a degree in Education from University of Chicago at Illinois. I have been the head of the math department for the past five years at my High School. With twelve years of private tutoring under my belt I specialize in working with high school students to better their preparation for exams and understand the content conceptually. I am passionate about the work that I do and feel strongly about the mathematic curriculum. Working at a school in Chicago, many of my students struggle to receive the help that they need outside of the classroom, I strive to make getting that help easier. I have worked to be an educator my whole adult life and have recently embarked on furthering my education online. I am always working to better myself as a teacher and educator, whether it be in the classroom or one on one private tutoring. I find the profession to be of endless reward and fulfillment, many students feel negatively towards mathematics and I believe I can remove some of that stigma by helping them to better grasp the concepts and understand the material.
I like to create a healthy and easy environment for my students to approach me, I have always forged close bonds and relationships with my students that help to encourage an open teaching style. I am excited to see where your education will take you and hope that I can assist you along the way. I work as a high school math teacher in Chicago and can open my evenings on weekdays, or anytime during the day on weekends. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and I wish you luck with your search for the right tutor. I have a degree in Education from University of Chicago at Illinois. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
