About Mack

When I went to college I wasn't sure what I wanted to study, I had so many different passions and dreams. I wanted to be a doctor, a businessman, and a film director, but there weren't any programs that led to me being all of those--I had to choose, so I chose economics. I really enjoy economics because it combines several subjects that I'm really interested in; math, poli-sci, and business. Despite the fact that I could only follow one dream in school, I could still follow the rest of my dreams outside of the classroom. Even though I'm not preparing to be a doctor, I'm a licensed EMT and thoroughly love biology, especially the human body and emergency medicine. And just because I'm in film school doesn't mean that I still can't love writing and rhetorical analysis; I enjoy reading and writing pieces that make people think about more than just what's on the page.

I was a swimmer all throughout high school and ended up swimming in college for a time. I understand the challenges of being an athlete while also pushing to excel academically. Being a student-athlete taught me a lot about how to work in a team, how to talk to others, how to manage my time, and how to push myself to achieve my goals.

My goal for working with students is to balance all these values. I want my students to push themselves to learn more, but not so much that they dislike it. I want to make learning fun and interesting; to emphasize the importance of learning. But above all, I want my students to be successful, if I can help a student even just a little bit, it will make me happy.

When I was little I struggled a lot learning math, and this led to me internalizing the subject incredibly well.

I think that everyone can achieve anything they set their minds to, we just need to tools to do it. I'd love to help you achieve your goals and push you toward success.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Economics

I am an economics major, I've earned two scholarships from the economics department and am a part of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the economics honors society. I have tutored many friends in economics courses.

Fitness

I've swam for nearly fifteen years. Once I ended my career with swimming I picked up bodybuilding and have been working out for nearly three years. I understand injuries and the work it takes to come back from them, I tore three ligaments in my knee and have spent months rehabbing and working my way back to my old fitness.

Swimming

I have close to 15 years experience. I swam varsity all four years in high school, was all-conference three times, captain twice, and All-American runner-up. I swam for two years at the Division I level.

Water Polo

I've played water polo for close to ten years. I played before high school and played in high school. I was captain during my senior year. I earned all-conference once.
