Originally from Wyoming, Niki holds a K-12 Illinois Spanish teaching certificate. She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Spanish Education and Spanish from the University of Wyoming. She also holds a Master's Degree in Spanish and Latin American Literature and Culture from NYU, Madrid.
Niki teaches students of all ages through implementing best instructional practices. She has taught advanced high school Spanish classes, developed and implemented a Junior High Spanish curriculum, and taught Spanish at the elementary level. Her lessons are differentiated and compatible with each student's unique needs and learning styles. Her innovative teaching strategies focus on the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Niki's teaching also reflects her own knowledge and passion for the Spanish language and culture. She studied abroad in Granada, Spain during her undergraduate degree and after graduating she taught English for a summer in Chile. More recently, Niki completed her Master's degree at the NYU campus in Madrid, Spain. Her expertise and passion helps to provide the enrichment and support that students need to succeed.
Currently, Niki is the World Language Department Chair in the school district where she is employed and she has presented her work at National Conferences such as the American Council on Teaching Foreign Languages. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
