If you look at my picture, you will see some of my students and myself having a very good time. This is because I love teaching and I do my best to make learning easy and fun. I have been teaching in almost every situation: at schools as a teacher, a substitute teacher, a special education teacher, an art teacher, a one to one and even a summer camp leader. These different experiences gave me the knowledge which allowed me to find myself as a teacher.
My education includes, undergrad at the University of Illinois - Chicago and my Master's and Certification were received from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. Both of these schools are excellent. I received my Special Education classes from National Louis University which allowed me to receive an endorsement. My experience in teaching has led from both public and private Day Schools, CPS and where I teach now at Evanston Skokie District 65. As a teacher my certificates include K-9 and 6-12th grades licenses.
Please contact me because I will do my best to give you the knowledge that you need and we will have fun doing it. I am able to come to your house, meet you at a Library and any place that works for you. Of course you are also welcome to come here and driving to your house is never an issue. My teaching background includes small groups and several years of working with individual students, in the areas of Math, Language Arts, and Reading and Grammar. I have taught a broad range of students with and without Learning Disabilities and my experience also includes Asperger's Syndrome. Currently, I am teaching Language Arts/History in an Evanston middle school to 6th graders and enjoying every minute of it. $40.00 per hour: one student
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My state of Illinois Certification includes an endorsement of LBS1 and includes highly qualified in the areas of LA, History, Reading, and Math for all grade levels, however, I have ten years of experience as a SPED teacher at grades K-10th. My strongest areas are LA, History and Reading. My experience includes students on the Autism Spectrum.
I have a Bachelor from the University of IL-Chicago, a MFA, from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Drawing, Painting, and Photography. My work in included in many collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. My work has also shown in Museums and published in periodicals throughout the United States. I have been making art including drawing from 9 years old and includes the present. I also have an IL. Certification, all grades, to teach art, all subjects with 15 years of teaching experience.
Besides being a Certified teacher with an LBS1, I have 10 years of experience working with Special Education students, and this includes Dyslexia. Usually, Dyslexia is also accompanied with other Learning Disabilities and they also must be addressed. I can also administer various tests and determine how best to assist the student. I can assist with the student's IEP.
I have an elementary and high school Illinois teaching Certificate, including a highly qualified rating in math, language arts, reading and science (elementary) level. I also have ten years experience teaching these subjects to SPED and regular education students. The majority of my experience is in grades preK through 5th grade and less experience in Middle school in the areas of Math.
My MFA is in painting, photography, and my BA includes, drawing, printmaking and I have been making art since I was nine years old. My MFA is from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, my art work is owned by collectors, including The Museum of Contemporary, Chicago and I have taught all areas of Art to all grade levels including college. My teaching certification includes Art for all grades.
My MFA in Photography, Painting (drawing/painting), minor Art History, and a BA from the University of IL-Chicago in Photography and Sculpture (Plastic and Graphic) which includes traditional and non-traditional Photography. I have visiting Artist teaching experience at the University level, and my art work (Photography) is included in various exhibitions and in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art. Much of my experience and education in Photography is in the area of experimental and conceptual.
I am an IL. Certified teacher with an endorsement LBS1, which includes Special Needs. The areas that I have taught during my ten years experience includes the Autism Spectrum and ADD/ADHD, Behavioral and Learning Disabilities. My teaching experience includes both public and private schools including Therapeutic Day Schools. I am familiar with the various testing supplies to aid in determining the necessary areas of help. I can assist with the students' IEP.
