Bachelor of Science, Xavier University (Spanish)
Salem State University Graduate School (Master's)
Hola a todos!
I am a licensed Spanish teacher with 11 years of teaching experience. I am certified to teach Spanish to all grades (K-12) and I currently teach grades 6-8 in a high-achieving district with forward thinking curriculum. I completely understand the rigor that is involved in students' course loads and I am confident I can assist them while also reducing their stress. For non-students, I would also be willing to tutor specifically in preparation for trips abroad.
I have my undergraduate degree in Spanish and education and a MAT (Masters of Arts in Teaching) Spanish as well and earned high honors for both degrees. I have spent extended time living and studying in Madrid, Spain. Also, I spent two summers planning and leading trips for groups American teens in Granada, Spain.
I absolutely love teaching and I am a very energetic, patient and positive. I have taught and worked with all types of students- those who love Spanish, those who "hate" it, and everything in between. I also have three of my own children, who all have very different personalities and styles of learning. Whether you are looking to catch up, keep up, or get ahead, I can help you out. I'm looking forward to working with you!
Gracias y hasta pronto! Hola a todos!

85 dollars per hour for one student, 120 dollars an hour for 2 students. More than 2 students would require further discussion.
My daughter is switching schools next year, and because of the change is a year behind her peers in Spanish. Kathryn did a great job planning out how to catch her up, and my daughter eagerly spent an hour the day after she meet Kathryn "studying" - and is now singing Spanish songs around the house. Kathryn nailed it!
Kathryn has been great at recommending websites for my daughter to go to practice what she is learning. We had a vacation break of 3 weeks and they started right back up. Great tutor.
Kathryn was very nice, patient. She was on time and came prepared. She is a very good teacher and would not hesitate to give her a very good recommendation.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Grammar has always been a specialty of mine. Although it might seem strange, learning Spanish grammar really allowed me to better explain English grammar concepts. I have edited many peers' papers throughout the years. Finding ways to tweak sentences and paragraphs to make them sound even better is something I really enjoy doing.
