About Alex

Currently, I am a chemistry student at Bradley University. Upon graduation, I will have a degree in chemistry and a teaching certificate. I will be able to teach high school or middle school science. I am excited about being able to teach either age group. The area that I will work in has not presented itself to me, so I will maintain an open mind and continue to gain as much knowledge as possible.

I am married with three children. My children have given me a deeper understanding of the learning process. Throughout these first few years of their lives, I have watched them unlock many secrets of understanding. Children are the greatest statisticians. They will try something over and over again until it produces a satisfactory outcome. This is how the great minds of science made discoveries that increased our understanding of this physical planet. Inquiry was the guide for their experiments and I believe that is how it should be.

To get to where I am today, I have taken many math courses. Along with these math courses, I have completed a series of several semesters of physics. I have begun to complete higher level math courses so that I can better understand higher level physics courses.

Science education excites me. I cannot help but think about the possibilities that are on the horizon now. The next generations will have many problems for which to find solutions. I cannot wait to be one of the many teachers that impact countless students by giving them the tools they will require.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
