About Nicole

After I graduated from High School, I attended the University of Missouri-Rolla (Missouri University of Science & Technology) and majored in Chemical Engineering. I later transferred to Southern Illinois University-Carbondale where I ultimately graduated from the Dept. of Engineering with a B.S. in Industrial Technology and Lean Manufacturing. I earned my Six Sigma Green Belt Certification as well. Currently I am enrolled in a graduate program at Purdue University pursuing a MS Biotechnology Innovation and Regulatory Science.

My favorite subjects are math (especially Algebra), English, and science(s). I love tutoring math the most! I've tutored others, seems like, my whole life. I want everyone to understand and I believe everyone can. I love when the light bulb of understanding shows on a student's face! My math background includes Calculus and Analytical Geometry I, II, III, Differential Equations, Calculus for Business, Engineering Physics I, College Physics II, Statics of Mechanics, additionally Chemistry I, II, III. In high school I took Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, Geometry, Physics, and Pre-Calculus.

I tutor elementary children, middle school, high school, college, and adult students that have returned to college. I care about the struggle some students experience in learning math. I know and understand that some instructors may leave out key steps that make the difference in understanding how to solve math problems. I will go to great lengths to relate to and reach a student for their understanding. I have a very soft spot for people who think they absolutely hate or think they just do not understand math.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra I is foundational for all future math and sciences. It provides the theorems, definitions, thought processes, and equations/formulas to define and solve for unknowns, utilizing and understanding what is known. Algebra I includes but not limited to: real and complex numbers, linear equations, linear inequalities, absolute values, quadratic equations, linear functions, slope, composite functions, inverse functions, circles, polynomials, graphs of functions...

Geometry

I have tutored Geometry for many years primarily in the Edwardsville School District and throughout the St. Louis Metro Area. I have written 2 Geometry Fundamentals summer courses to prepare 8th-10th graders. This is one of my requested subjects. If you need any help at all do not hesitate to reach out. I had Geometry as a high school student in Edwardsville and then went on to take Calculus and Analytical Geometry I, II, and III. I would be honored to help you!

Absolutely awesome!!

Nicole has been absolutely fantastic. Our college age daughter is getting great grades on her homework and a better understanding of the Algebra process. Not only are her grades going up, her self confidence in that she can do the work has improved 100%. Nicole is patient, kind, meticulous, understanding, and knows her business when it comes to Algebra. Great tutor that I would highly recommend.
