At the college level, I have taught German (native), creative writing, theater, English, history, computer science, and journalism for 13 years. In the last 18 years, I have been a substitute teacher from pre-school through high school. I have been to Europe 15 times, and written editorials in the Milwaukee newspapers and poems in the Chicago Tribune Sunday Magazine.
My strength is as a literary critic in the positive sense. Education is a never-ending process, philosophy is a desire for wisdom. I can certainly help you with editing your writing, whether it be in fiction or journalism. Many, many students have called me their favorite substitute teacher. I love people of all cultures and have been introduced to 80 languages. I am hungry to learn, are you? First lesson with our daughter was great. He provided her with many new books and tools to help with reading. We look forward to many more lessons. Thank you!
I have taught DOS at Madison College for ten years. I also worked at Radio Shack for 23 years as a computer specialist. Some of the DOS commands are still embedded in almost all versions of Windows. The most useful one is chkdsk/f which will fix computer errors.
I hold a substitute teacher's license K-12. I have had this job since 1996. I hold a Master of Education degree from Cardinal Stritch University. I have taught nine different areas at the college level, beginning with German in 1969. I have tutored many special education students and have substitute taught all areas except calculus.
My command of the English language is superb. In tutoring students in handwriting, repetition is very important. For grade school students, we all used paper that had three lines so that we could get our capital and lower case words in the proper alignment. For a few students, I even guided their hand a few times so that they would know where to start writing their letter. I also showed them on the blackboard how to form their letters and words, spacing and punctuation. Then we all copied a whole paragraph on lined paper. In the last 18 years, I have been a substitute teacher from pre-school through high school.
I have taught Windows for 10 years at Madison College. I worked as a computer specialist at Radio Shack for the better of 23 years. I hold an M.E. in educational technology from Cardinal Stritch University.
My photography has been displayed at a huge shopping mall and at a high school. I recently won an award in Morton, Ill. I have taught and tutored 7 photographers on how to see a fine possible photo in the making, when to use video instead of a still shot, how to crop the photograph properly... what to leave in or out in the foreground or background, how to use reflection in a shop window, the element of timing the photograph and printing out one's photos on a greeting card as well as how to do a double exposure!
I like to rehearse with the student out loud one-on-one; make sure he knows his subject matter. Is he speaking slow enough? Is he calm enough? Did he start out using a persuasive introductory opening? We usually do an outline of the speech..a solid conclusion that summarizes all the point of his speech. Does he know how to counter objections to his views? I spend 20 minutes with my students after his presentation and to challenge or enforce his point(s). We will also review his delivery gestures!
I ran for state superintendent of public instruction in Wisconsin so I made many public appearances. I had a speech course in college.I know how to instill confidence in speakers! I know correct English and how to write scripts for people. I have taught theater at the college level. I have worked with impromptu speeches with high school students. I tutored my sister who came in second in the state.
I have a BA degree in religion from Luther College. This major is not just for the Christian faith but for world religions as well. I am open minded about the various faiths.
Theatre was my favorite course to teach in college. We did musicals like "My Fair Lady" by handing out parts to read and even watching some of the movie. My graduate major was German drama and I did write one play that won an award. We also did impromptu speeches and plays. My students were nurses and policemen. I got super reviews from my students.
Excellent command of English
Held many writing jobs
Have taught creative writing and journalism at the college level
