My name is Katie L. I am a 3rd grade teacher at a grade school in Bartonville, Illinois. I have been teaching for three years now and love it! I started off teaching 5th grade and enjoyed it; however, I made the move to 3rd grade two years ago and am really happy I made that decision. I love kids and their young minds. I currently am one of three speech coaches at Monroe as well. I was somewhat dramatic growing up, so coaching speech gives me the opportunity to break out my love for drama. Also, I get to work with some of my former 5th graders who are now 7th graders. Crazy how fast they have grown! In addition to teaching 3rd grade and coaching speech, I am also working on my Master's in Curriculum Instruction through Western University. It's a two year program done completely online. So far I have to say my Master's classes have been easier than my undergrad classes were. As far as tutoring is concerned, I have never been a designated tutor, but have a lot of experience working with kids. I've spent the last few summers babysitting full time, as well as helping them with any summer programs they might be doing through their schools. I would love to have the opportunity to tutor in an effort to help your child gain a better understanding of their subject matter as well as for myself to gain more experience. As a teacher, I am always learning new things on a daily basis and feel this would be a great opportunity to continue that learning.
I focus on these areas on a daily basis with my 3rd graders and am confident I can find exciting ways for students to learn and practice these concepts.
I really hope to be given the opportunity to tutor your child and am looking forward to hearing from you so we can get started! My name is Katie L. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
