I currently teach Early Childhood Special Education, but have taught First and Second Grades as well. I attended Illinois State University, and have tutored students from Kindergarten through Third Grade in English Language Arts and Math. I enjoy working with Early Childhood students and helping them learn the basic skills they need to build a strong foundation for success in school. Starting with assessing the students' knowledge of the alphabet and letter sounds and moving onto blending letters and, finally, words. I have used a variety of phonics support materials including Modern Curriculum Press, Scott Foresman Reading Street and Heggerty Phonics.
