I graduated with Math and Physics from University College London. I also had a master in Philosophy from LSE and a grad diploma in Economics from Birkbeck, London.
I worked as a Math teacher in England, teaching GCSE and A level for a number of years. I have started tutoring Math and Latin in the USA since I came here three years ago. Until now I have tutored only the children of my wife's colleagues and her students at the NIU who are struggling with Math or Latin. I have not charged money mainly because I have not been authorized to take up paid employment and partly because I'm passionate about being a part in someone learning new things. I have now been authorized to take up paid employment. As I'm most interested about the learning of my students, I have decided to charge only the minimum fees.
At the moment, I'm working with a handful of NIU students, 9 and 12 graders. I help one of them prepare GRE at the moment. In addition to English, I know some German and a bit of French. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
