About Lesley

HI!

My name is Lesley, and I am currently a stay-at-home mom to two girls. Before I became a mom, I was a special education teacher at the middle school level for 10 years. I worked with students who have several emotional behavioral disorders and learning disabilities. I also have a Masters Degree in School Administration. I have a passion for teaching and believe that all students can learn. I tailored my lessons to students individual needs. My job as a teacher was to help students find their full potential and feel successful. I motivated my students and helped them build their confidence and skills.

I am a caring, patient, and understanding individual who would love to help your child succeed out of the classroom. I am confident in my ability to tutor in all subject areas (elementary and middle school levels), along with study skills and help teach organizational skills. I can be available on weekends and late afternoons during the week.

Please contact me with any questions. I look forward to working with you. :)

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Special Needs

I was a special education teacher for 10 years - certified by the state of Illinois. I currently hold a teaching certificate by the state endorsed as a Learning Behavior Specialist. I've taught students with severe behavior disorders, learning disabilities, other health impairments and autism.

Study Skills

I taught a study skills class for 4 years to 6th and 7th grade students. I helped teach them how to stay organized during the school day and taught them specific study skills for homework and exams.
