My name is Andrea Korwin. I love teaching and helping children reach their full potential. Currently, I am student teaching in Rock Island in a first grade classroom. I will be graduating in December with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a reading endorsement.
I believe that struggling students need meaningful lessons that incorporate some of their own personal interests rather than isolated skill lessons. I also think that it is important for the student to have fun while learning as well to boost their attitude and feelings toward any and all subjects.
I am currently working toward my reading endorsement and love helping students identify their strengths and areas for improvement, so that we can make a plan together on how to reach their goals.
I am not yet certified, but am passionate about elementary education and elementary aged students. Right now I am student teaching and loving every minute of it.
I have taken class upon class on phonics and phonemic awareness. I sometimes dream about it. I may not be the absolute best, as I am still learning, but I have many games and activities that could help your child with letter identification, spelling, and decoding.
I would love to help you reach your goals! While I am working toward a reading endorsement, I am also great with math and science and have an extreme passion for social studies. Shoot me a message if you are interested! My name is Andrea Korwin. I love teaching and helping children reach their full potential. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently a student teacher from St. Ambrose University in a first grade classroom in Rock Island. I have worked with elementary and junior high aged children for 4 years. I have worked in day camp, summer school, and early learning center settings. I will be graduating with a degree in Elementary Education (and with an endorsement in reading) from St. Ambrose in December.
I am working toward my reading endorsement at St. Ambrose University. I have completed two courses in which I tutored lower and upper elementary students in reading and equipped them with skills and strategies that they could use for letter identification, spelling, and decoding.
I played soccer from Kindergarten until I was finished with high school. I also played intramural soccer for the first two years of college. My junior year of high school, my coach was a former semi-pro soccer player who taught me many skills and strategies to use on the field.
I played volleyball from 5th grade until the end of high school. I also played intramural volleyball for the first two years of college. I was a libero and played middle back for the majority of high school. I have an extreme passion for volleyball and would love to encourage that in others.
