I became a tutor during my undergraduate studies. During this time, my children were in elementary, middle, and high schools. Over the years, I frequented their schools as a volunteer and realized that the number of students struggling with reading, writing, and English had continuously increased. Initially I went back to school to facilitate these student populations with English, but I began teaching adult English learners through a local tutoring program and expanded my knowledge of learning across age groups. Since I really enjoyed teaching English language acquisition, I doubled my BA major to learn more about ESL. I graduated summa cum laude from Ashford University with a double major in Social Sciences with a concentration in Education and English Language Learner Studies. I continued a 4.0 GPA with my M.Ed. in Adult Education and also earned a graduate certificate in Teaching with Technology and Distance Learning. Presently, I am working toward a Master of Science in Information Systems, specifically web development, to learn the skills necessary to design educational websites for my learners. I have been on Wyzant’s nationwide top 100 tutors list and for the past 8 years that I have been tutoring adolescents and adults in English language acquisition, reading, writing, and TOEFL test prep. I feel that I have the best job on Earth. I have taught students from all over the world whom have shared their traditions, languages, and dedication to learning. Tutoring is the only job where saying goodbye is a fulfilling experience.
My specialties are in ESL, writing, reading, and preparation for the TOEFL. I have also helped learners with the ESL Compass, and the English, reading, and writing sections for the Compass, SAT, and ACT. Additionally, I have a great reading program for all learners, which focuses on phonemic awareness, vocabulary acquisition, and fluency. My teaching is student centered, addressing the needs of individual learners. During our first meeting, we will discuss your learning goals and I will assess strengths and needs to write a plan for achievement. I do not charge a fee for this first assessment meeting, which helps you increase your return on investment. While some learners just need a little extra help, others, especially my TOEFL learners, work with a calendar of assignments that I design to maximize success.
I tutor in face-to-face venues at the Indian Prairie library in Darien; however, I also meet learners at various Dunkin Donuts within the area.
I also tutor students online. I have helped learners in the U.S. and internationally with the TOEFL. We utilize Skype or Google Hangouts, Google Documents, and YouTube for our sessions.
I also tutor TOEFL groups at a lower per student/hourly rate.
2 student groups = $25.00/hour per student
3-4 student groups = $20.00/hour per student
I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Best English tutor!
Christine is truly the best English tutor! When I started my classes with Christine in October my Toefl score was 84 and this was a way lower score than what I needed. We had one class a week focusing on the Toefl speaking part and the proper English pronunciation. Whitin other week days Christine guide me with my homework and helped with my writing. She is not only very knowledgeable tutor, she is a great person too! She is very kind and patient, she always makes time and has a personal approach with working on student's weaknesses. Eventually, only after 2 months of our classes my Toefl score was 103! Almost everyone told me it's impossible to improve my score on 20 points within 2 months, bad I did it with the help of Christine. For the speaking I've received 27! And my English pronunciation is much better now too. I highly recommend Christine as a tutor for Toefl and writing! She will do her best to get you to the result you wish!Milana, 8 lessons with Christine

Excellent english tutor
Christine is an excellent English tutor, she is knowledgeable, patient and extremely friendly and i'm enjoying the lessons with her. She knows what to do and how to start , she took me step by step. Now, I have finished 6 lessons each for 3 hours and i'm sure that i'm improving. I was worried on the beginning if i chose the right tutor or not , because I already took the toefl before, but I didn't get a high score and I wanted to find someone who can help me to find and improve my weakness in Toefl, especially since I have only one month to retake the TOEFL test. I highly recommend Christine as a tutor for Toefl Thanks god that I found her Thank you Christine!May, 16 lessons with Christine
