About Doug

I have experience teaching in a college setting as a teaching assistant at the University of North Carolina. I truly enjoy helping people learn and teaching important and meaningful lessons.

My education includes graduate-level work in Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina, with a research project analyzing air pollution and temperature-related health impacts in the United States. My coursework has covered climate change, air pollution, toxicology, epidemiology, environmental policy, marine sciences, and public health leadership. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health, with a corresponding internship in the Department of Environmental Health at the City of Evanston, Illinois.

While attending graduate school, I have gained experience as a Teaching Assistant at the University of North Carolina. For this position, I lectured, wrote test questions, graded tests and papers, and assisted in class field trips and projects. I currently serve as a Research Assistant with the Environmental Epidemiology branch of the North Carolina State Department of Health working in the Climate Ready States program. I have also served as a Graduate Assistant in the Environment and Ecology Department at UNC, aiding in the development of a stream water monitoring project.

I strive to improve the environment and the lives of others. As such, volunteer service has been an important part of my life. I have volunteered at a food pantry and in an emergency preparedness division of a public health department. I am proficient in Microsoft Office, data management, and website design. Additionally, I have experience using the Environmental Protection Agency’s Benefits Mapping and Analysis Program.

I have a BS in Environmental Health and an MS in Environmental Sciences and Engineering. I've worked in the public health and environmental science field for years now. I've taken many classes in the physical and life sciences, and have taught at the college level.
