Hi, I'm Peter! I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley, with a cumulative GPA of 3.75. I also minored in Theater and Performance Studies. I’ve always had a passion for learning and understanding new things, and I want to bring that joy and passion to other people! I’ve developed a lot of technical knowledge of Math and Physics through my training as an Engineer, and I’ve developed the ability to communicate that knowledge effectively through my theater experience. My approach to tutoring usually involves fun and creative real world applications of concepts being taught, then teaching the ability to generalize and abstract the problem into its core, solvable components. One of my greatest strengths as a tutor is the ability to reframe and approach the same concepts from different angles, allowing me to adapt my teaching style to best fit the student’s learning style.

As an engineering student, I've developed a strong understanding and command of Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry, and Physics, and their applications to real world problems. I also understand that tutoring is a learning experience for myself: I need to learn the best way to teach each student. As such, I make sure to revise and adapt lesson plans as I continue to teach a student, tailoring the learning experience to best suit them.

I want to help the students with whom I work as much as possible. Furthermore, I hope to aid my students in finding the same curiosity and passion for learning as I have! Please feel free to contact me with further questions, or to schedule a lesson!

Mechanical Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering

I've completed undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at UC Berkeley, with a cumulative GPA of 3.75. I've applied engineering knowledge to a number of projects, including a self-erecting pendulum, the chassis and suspension of a super-mileage vehicle (as a member of Cal Super Mileage Vehicle Team), establishing a control scheme for an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone), and more. My area of expertise lies primarily in controls, control theory, and aviation, but I have a solid understanding of and ability to teach most undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses.

Great tutor!

Peter has really helped our son learn more about AP Physics! He has been quick to respond and help out in extra hours when we were in a pinch. He has also been kind, understanding and accommodating, as well as knowledgeable.

Knowledgeable, Patient and Efficient Tutor

Peter helped me to clarify my struggles with Calculus. He taught in a method consistent to the way I had been learning and was patient and walked with me every step of the way. He also showed me new methods on how I can do better in the class as well. He was happy to explain things more than once and in different ways if needed. You could tell that he would do anything in his power to help you understand a concept and genuinely wanted you to succeed. I would gladly take another lesson with him and highly recommend him to anyone on this site.

Very knowledgeable

Peter was very professional and responded quickly to my sons last minute request for help before a test. This was his first time working with Peter. His regular tutor was on vacation.

Excellent Tutor

We studied Integral and Differential Calculus to prepare me for the CLEP Calculus Exam. Peter is an excellent tutor, and helped me to understand the material thoroughly.

Last Minute Life Saver

Peter was extremely helpful in clarifying a few last minute concepts before my physics final. After our session, I felt much more confident going into the exam. In addition, he was very accommodating to my schedule.

I FINALLY UNDERSTAND PHYSICS!

I was struggling with some physics concepts before a final exam. Peter made everything SO CLEAR that after 1 lesson with him I'm excited to take my final and feel really confident! Better help than office hours with my professor. Highly recommend!

Intelligent and Articulate Tutor

Peter helped me with College Physics II. I am struggling very much with the course and he cleared up a great deal for me. I found him to be a significantly better lecturer than my professor. Additionally, he had a great working knowledge of the subject to the point at which he was able to simplify concepts such that I could understand them a great deal more easily than I could from my textbook. I highly recommend his service!
