Hello! My name is Gordon G. After completing my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education (Mathematics) at the University of Calgary in Canada I embarked on a 30-year career in classical music, both concert and opera. My work took me all over the world from the United States to Australia to China to Japan to the major stages of the European continent. My early love of teaching meant that throughout my travels I constantly sought opportunities to connect with young singers, to encourage them in their studies and to share the invaluable insights I gained working with the top professionals in the music world. Now I have decided to devote all my time to nurturing the next generation of singers. No matter what level of student or what that student's eventual goal I love the process of helping them sing more freely and joyfully. Seeing the progress my students make over the weeks and months is so very gratifying. I know what it is like to struggle and I know I can make a positive difference.

I teach a very clear technique. The fundamental principle is the disentanglement of the jaw, larynx and tongue which leads to a freer, natural sound devoid of muscular involvement. Disentanglement allows the flow of air to produce a sound of maximum power, beauty and ease. Adopting this technique empowers the singer so that they reach a higher level of autonomy in the implementation of their singing practice and vocal expression.

My approach is based on a positive process rather than stressing the negatives. Many singers find themselves hampered by long-ingrained habits that once were of service but never addressed the ultimate aim of a totally free vocal mechanism. These need to be unlearned, definitely, but rather than attempting to strip them away I work closely with the student and his or her natural instincts to instill new habits that supersede the old.

Recent research in neuropsychology underscores the importance of positive self-talk and its role in enhanced performance. I believe in the relentless pursuit of jo

Voice (Music)

I have sung all over the world with most of the top professionals in the field of classical music. I have had the privilege of creating several roles in new operas. My entire career has been a years-long master class. Imagine a university that could hire a team of the most distinguished professors, gather a talented group of students, and spend two months intensively working through a masterpiece of the repertoire.

The Best Tutor

After three classes, I see great progress and am getting more motivated to improve my singing skills. Lessons that Gordon provides me with are easy to follow. They are constructing the vocal foundations that I can feel a great progress. Two weeks ago, I even didn't know what pitch is, and now I can do pitch matching. He is very knowledgeable, and I am so glad that I have the chance to work with him.

Gordan is great. He's very enthusiastic and really loves what he does, it's very apparent. He is organized and very on track, he has all his techniques and methods seemingly second nature so it's just a matter of relaying his knowledge to you. I look forward to working with him again.

Very knowledgeable

I took a class with Gordon. He is so professional, knowledgeable, and supportive. He gave me the courage to be comfortable and sing in the class. He breaks the lessons to simple and small parts and explain everything so I can easily follow. I have no experience in singing but I believe I saw a great progress in the first session and will definitely continue to work him. I highly recommend him to every student. It does not matter what level you are at. He can improve your singing skill as he is himself a terrific singer.

Simply Amazing

The combination of Gordon’s love of teaching, and the years of experience that came with his opera career, truly shines throughout the entire lesson. If you are looking for voice lessons, he should be your first contact. Gordon treats each one of his students as if they were his only one.

Well prepared especially with beginners

Gordon did a fantastic job and not only understanding the goals I wanted to achieve as a singer but also was able to explain how to achieve those goals in a simple yet constructive manner. We only worked on technique, as per my request, so that we were able to focus on the basic building blocks of healthy, easy, beautiful singing. He is super encouraging and is so supportive in his teaching. I would highly recommend and will be taking future lessons!

Gordon Gietz - voice teacher

Gordon is a terrific teacher! He was so nice, so helpful and very easy to understand. I think he is wonderful for beginners like me. Frankly, I was nervous about working with him when I read about his long international singing career but he couldn't have been more down to earth. A great experience. Can't wait for the next lesson!

Knowledgeable and Inspiring

Gordon is a jewel in Wyzant. I am so happy I decided to coach with him. He is friendly, patient and a true operatic Tenor with tons of experience on stage. His insights over my voice and the specific repertoire I worked with him were wonderful. I am glad to have it recorded and available for me to continue studying. I will definitely schedule with him a lesson very soon.
