A little about me: I have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Writing from Illinois State University. I also have my certification in TEFL/TESOL (teaching English as a foreign language). I have been tutoring for about 7 years now, my students have ranged from pre-k all the way to the collegiate level. I also have hours of experience working with students of all ages to perfect English as their second language and helping them gain more confidence in their reading, writing, and verbal English. Another leg of tutoring I am very passionate about is proofreading essays, resumes, etc. at any level.

English can open so many doors in so many ways, and I am excited to help you on your journey. My lessons are planned out thoroughly specific to each student's learning goals. My standard is to use the CLT method (Communicative Approach) when teaching English. For ESL students, the main goal is to achieve communicative competence. To do this, we will individually focus on 1. speaking, 2. listening, 3. writing, and 4. reading. For grammar, writing, and proofreading students, our main goal is perfecting the English language and carefully analyzing and correcting any grammar errors. We are always striving for a clean, finished product.

Grammar lessons will be taught in CONTEXT, meaning the lesson will be linked to materials related to conversation, reading, listening, and writing that apply to specific students' situations.

I prepare each lesson with appropriate materials and resources according to your needs, so every minute of our lesson will be beneficial.
