I am a current math teacher at a high school in Chicago. I grew up in Chicago, on the South Side, and graduated from CPS Schools. I went to Loyola University of Chicago, where I earned a Bachelors in Secondary Education and a Bachelors in Mathematics. I am interested in tutoring over the Summer. I have taught and tutored students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, and AP Calculus AB. I am particularly fond of Geometry and Calculus, however. This year, I taught mostly juniors in high school, and am very well acquainted with SAT Mathematics, as well as the AP and IB Mathematics Curriculum.
While I love teaching, my favorite part of my job is tutoring in small groups or one on one, either during lunch or after school. I love teaching in small groups or one on one, because I truly get to understand how a student approaches a problem, and what misconceptions they have. That moment that we get over a hurdle or a misunderstanding in their mathematics knowledge is amazing.
I believe that this summer will be vital in helping students maintain and grow their math skills, especially as many students were engaged in remote learning, or had exams, such as the SAT pushed to the Fall.
I am a current math teacher, and have been teaching remotely to full classes for months. I have taught many different levels of middle school and high school math, which has given me a wide array of experience, as well as an understanding of how these curriculums overlap and intertwine. I can help a student catch up, and prepare for the following school year.
I also am well versed in technology, such as calculators, desmos, geogebra, etc. I know of free apps students can download to use calculators, and believe in using technology and understanding concepts, rather than memorizing benign mathematical facts. I try my best to make the math engaging and relevant.
Please contact me for more information! I am currently only willing to work remotely. My sessions would typically consist of some type of exploration,
