For the past 12 years, I have taught college students in a variety of subjects, including Sociology, Statistics, and Quantitative Research Methods. I take pride in being patient and drawing from a plethora of examples to illustrate concepts in an accessible manner.

While new to the Wyzant tutoring platform, I have a great deal of experience helping students one-on-one to work through particularly challenging material in the social sciences and statistics, as well as troubleshooting SPSS commands for students.

The single class I've taught the most is Intro to Social Statistics. Having taught it so many times has provided me with a strong toolkit for teaching basic statistical concepts to students who are math-phobic. I have also helped created material for and proofread to college-level social statistics textbook series.

All those statistics classes included an SPSS component, involving tutelage in how to get and interpret output. I've found a variety of data sets to draw from to answer interesting questions, along with tutelage in basic SPSS platforms.

I have experience teaching several different subjects within Sociology. In my teaching, I like to draw from interesting real world events, current events, or students own "N of 1" experiences to illustrate abstract, hard-to-understand concepts.

On occasion, I've even managed to use board games as a means to teach Sociological concepts.

While I've only taught Sociology and Statistics, in my lessons I often draw from concepts in other, related social sciences. I have a bit of versatility in teaching psychological or anthropological concepts as well.

At the moment, my schedule is malleable and - although I'm located on the near South side - I am willing to travel to other parts of Chicago.
