At heart, the aim of my teaching is to develop students' innate interests and set them in broader perspectives– whether it's for improving academically or exploring what you find meaningful. I studied art, design, and philosophy at The New School in New York City, and worked for years as a research and teaching assistant for philosophy, literature, and history professors. My studies taught me how to analyze texts and imagery closely, and articulate complex ideas with clarity and sensitivity. Most importantly, they taught me possibilities of being in the world, and that an education is an experience of self-cultivation. One of the great pleasures in teaching is passing on one's love for learning.

As a writer and artist, I am familiar with both the creative and editorial sides of the process. For English and writing tutoring, I can assist you with reading comprehension, grammar, argumentation, writing with cohesion, and freeing writer's block. I proofread and advise on writing for poetry, literature, philosophy, social studies, psychology, and college admissions essays. I also offer more structured lessons on poetry and philosophy, where we will investigate important concepts, systems of ordering knowledge, form, rhyme, and meter.

I can help you develop an eye for art and design through a careful study of visual principles and historical examples. We will use formal analysis, which is a method of articulating what you see through the compositional properties of a work of art. The use of formal analysis is not limited to visual works; you may apply this technique to understanding poetry, music, and more.

I am fortunate to have had a wide range of work experience in the Arts, from painting and sculpture to working with the education and curatorial departments at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Art Institute in Chicago, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. My knowledge spans across many areas of the Humanities, with special emphasis on poetry, art history, ancient Greek philosophy, con
