I am a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Public Outreach Specialist working at an engineering company in the Greater Chicago area. I also volunteer for an international non-profit organization based in Bolivia focusing on sustainable water resource management and development. I have a Master's degree in International Public Service and an undergraduate degree in International Studies with an emphasis in Development and two minors in East Asian Studies and Chemistry. As you can tell, I have experience in multiple disciplines which is an approach to education that I strongly advocate for as the hard and the soft sciences often feed into each other in ways you might not anticipate.

The most important skill set I have learned from my education is research methods. Understanding how to identify factual sources, comprehensively analyze sources, and properly cite sources is an essential skill to develop. Being able to write with proper grammar in a concise and comprehensible manner is always useful as well, and I have extensive experience with writing in both a technical and creative manner. I hope to help you learn the skill set you will need to give you all the advantages you will need to succeed.

Writing with proper grammar is one of the most crucial skills anyone can learn, and I have extensive experience with both technical and creative writing. I have experience with both MLA, APA, and Chicago Manual writing and citation styles, and I would often help proofread many of my peers papers throughout graduate school. I have written two theses on the environment and civil society in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea for my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I also write sci-fi fiction in my leisure time and am a co-organizer for Just Write Chicago. I look forward to helping others become prolific and improve upon their writing styles.

A critical examination of history is essential for a comprehensive understanding of the world we live in today. I have a minor in East Asian Studies with most of m

In graduate school, I completed a raster analysis to identify deforestation in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in order to identify areas of environmental degradation. I currently work at an engineering company managing all their GIS data. I have extensive experience working with raster data and utilizing the Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst toolsets. I mostly work in ArcMap and ArcCatalog, but I also have some experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, ArcScene, and CityEngine.

Knowledgeable, Flexible, Personable.

Great tutor! We were working through aspects of a project I'm doing in QGIS, and swapped screens back and forth several times as we tackled various facets of it. Cody was great at pivoting, and showed me several features of QGIS (attribute tables, georeferencing bitmaps, etc.) that I wasn't aware of. I'm hoping to work with him again, and would recommend him highly.

Excellent Tutor

Cody worked with me through my GIS lab assignment and also showed me some very useful tools and shortcuts through the ArcGIS software. Extremely personable guy and explains concepts and aspects of the ArcGIS software in a way that a non tech oriented person would understand them. I recommend Cody as a GIS tutor to absolutely anyone, but specifically someone who isn't particularly technologically savvy and/or needs added assistance understanding a dense and fairly involved software package like ArcGIS.

Amazing Tutor

Over the last couple of months that I have worked with Cody he has never failed to find the solution to whatever obstacle I faced. I took a course specifically for ArcGIS Pro on the raster side of things and he was beyond knowledgeable. Cody was able to describe the tools in such a way that I could understand their mechanics. He is patient, kind, and his passion for GIS is infectious. He is willing to work late to complete assignments and is very accessible. If you are struggling with GIS, I highly recommended you contact Cody. You might even be lucky enough to hear a story or two about some of his crazy adventures!

Knowledge and Skillful

Cody helped me to regroup data collection file and create separate each group by the feature codes. It was a great hep. He was sharp and very helpful. I can recommend him to any other student who might be struggling to get their homework done.

Knowledgeable and Patient

Cody helped me figure out the final steps for a lab assignment. I was so confused before we started and had spent a lot of time trying to figure it out on my own to no avail. He was very patient and helped tremendously! Thank you, Cody!
