The math involved with a physics degree includes intensive use of derivatives, chain rule, concepts from Calc I (High School - Calc AB), single and double integration, substitution, partial fractions, taylor series, concepts from Calc II (High School - Calc BC), Triple integration, partial derivatives, line and surface integrals, concepts from Calc III and other subjects such as Differential Equations and Linear Algebra.

Many students have a harsh transition when learning intro college Physics 1+2 from high school and I work to build their foundation. Students backgrounds in high school can vary a lot and I have worked with those that need only a small amount of supplemental encouragement to finish understanding a concept and getting the correct answer (checking their math and assumptions) to fully teaching a concept from the fundamentals in a workshop manner. Physics as a subject is quite fascinating, it will in general challenge your thinking skills in a unique way (how math and reality explain each other) and I want to relieve frustrations that are common when learning all the various topics in a short timespan of a school year or semester.

Whether you want to get through physics class to finish your college degree and keep a high GPA or want to ensure your student in high school to be properly prepared for a college degree in science or engineering, lets do it together!

I have my BS in Physics, which involved learning and project use of MATLAB. I have done a lot of data analysis in MATLAB for my PhD in Material Science, using smoothing functions to properly plot scattered data. I also have be endorsed by those working in Military Defense and Aerospace for my MATLAB skills.

Knowledgeable and to the point

Helped identify the areas my daughter has been having trouble on tests and pointed what to look out for. She is having trouble with complex word problems and Darrell simplified understanding them and what concepts to use for what kind of problems. She need to work on lot more problems to be more comfortable.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

My daughter was falling behind in AP Physics I, specifically the unit on Rotational Motion, and was very unprepared for a test in 2 days. Over 5 hours, Darrell went through her 75 page packet helping her understand the concepts and work through problems. She was so much more comfortable afterward and felt good about the test. Darrell knew all the material and which concepts were likely to be emphasized on the test. He was a tremendous help and my daughter would go to him again if needed.

Knowledgeable

My son is struggling with Physics and after 2 sessions with Darrell he's starting to feel more confident with the material. I was part of the first session and Darrell is professional and has the right amount of patience and is very familiar with Physics. I feel pretty confident that I will see improvement in my son's grades with Darrell's help. I'm very happy I went this route. I will update in 8 days with my son's test grade. :)

Darrell's Great!

Darrell assisted my son with physics. He's kind, efficient and super knowledgeable/helpful. He also knows a lot about how Wyzant's system works, too. We are definitely using him again! :-)

Taught better than my teacher

He taught concepts that my teacher missed. It cleared up some confusions I had. He was patient with me. Much appreciated.
